Cassie: A Dog Adopted
Cassie was a stray pit bull puppy who never slept a single night in the ACF. When she came in, she was fostered immediately by a volunteer who was in the ACF at the time and couldn’t resist those puppy eyes.
In time, Cassie moved to a new foster home. Her new mom brought Cassie to a party where her friend saw this adorable puppy and just had to take her home. So now, Cassie was in her third foster home!
Cassie just kept growing and blossomed into a big girl who was super happy and a bit unruly. She was being loved and loved, but she didn’t have the training of the shelter dogs. She caught the eye of another lady who wanted to adopt her. This lady took Cassie home and brought her back a few days later, displaying bruised arms. Cassie’s puppy ways were too active, her nippy love bites too painful.
When her third foster mom heard Cassie was being returned, she offered to foster her again, so Cassie returned to home number three! Foster Mom Three couldn’t deal with the love bites either, so she bought a can of pressurized air at Wagn’ Tails. Every time Cassie nipped, she received a blast of air and learned to stop nipping in no time.
Finally, a family with a nine year old boy wanted Cassie. This was the perfect home. A boy and his dog, that’s the way it should be! The can of air went with her but now she obeys with just a “sssssh” sound. No need for the can.
Many thanks to all three foster families. Cassie was lucky to have so much love and patience while she was awaiting the perfect family for her, and she loved all the moving around!
