It was a blustery afternoon alongside the San Diego Bay, but the canine candidates, their humans and the supporting crowd took it all in stride.
The 16 candidates for the PAWS of Coronado Canine Mayoral race all gathered at the Coronado Ferry Landing for group and individual photos.
Mayor Casey Tanaka was on hand to pose with each of the candidates, petting ears and rubbing bellies much to each dog’s delight.
After the photo session, the dogs and their humans were treated to a pizza party on the outdoor patio of Village Pizzeria Bayside courtesy of Apua Garbutt.
In an e-mail to the candidates (via their owners) PAWS board member Louise Shirey said the following:
Many thanks to all you candidates for attending the Meet and Greet Pizza Party!
I heard so many comments on what a fun time it was and how beautifully all the dogs behaved!
If this is any indication, it will be fun throughout the entire voting period. Everybody get your campaigns in order and on April start stuffing those ballot boxes! Refer to the Wednesday Eagle for instructions.
The booklet can be sent to the printer now that we have the group picture. We’ll get copies for all of you and we’ll have them placed here and there in town for public awareness. We will keep those poster boards updated, so you keep watching.
You are a good group!!
The race is just heating up, so be on the lookout for the dogs campaigning and vote for your favorite!
